Over at Arts Journal, Tyler Green has been reporting on the high admission prices to some museums, showing you get a bigger discount with a AAA membership than a CalArts ID card.
LACMA responded by revealing their secret 17-and-under free tickets to the Magritte show.
Now up at LACMA's web site is their attempt to placate starving art students with a free reception. On Thursday, February 8 from 8:00 to 10:00 in the evening, LACMA invites those with college I.D. cards to view the Treachery of Images show, and lounge in the central court. Parking is free across the street at their lot on Spaulding Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard.
Perhaps this would be a good location for a starve-in? E-mail me at michaelbuitron@gmail.com if you're interested.
