A group of us headed out to do some reconnaissance for our upcoming reinvention of Publicity at Vasquez Rocks. While there, we read and performed the score for Easy. (Box 20, Folder 2)
It was a beautiful warm sunny day, so the heat contained in the dark rock I picked up evaporated the bottled water rather quickly. We were in a relatively flat part of the rocks, and by looking down the sandy dry stream bed, one could see that the water had followed different courses. As we walked while looking at our wet rocks, different people followed different courses.
Further down the dry stream bed I came across a bloody Indian and a cowboy. There was also a woman in a Victorian dress and a young boy dressed as a cowboy who played with a bow and arrow. They left behind some grave markers; a cameraman followed them back to their van.
I remembered seeing episodes of the original Star Trek that was filmed out here: Captain Kirk in a battle royale with a lizard man. Considering that we will return in May with our cameras to document our reinvention of Publicity, the film references seem quite appropriate.
Hello Michael,
ReplyDeleteMy new website, http://rlcroft.com/, is now up and running. I hope you'll visit it and spread the word. Interesting "reenactments", if I'm reading your blog correctly. On a parallel outdoors note, see the "impromptu" section of my website. My next ambitions include getting invited to museum exhibitions before I become a museum exhibition, getting represented before Social Security is my only income, and still somehow remaining relatively unknown. Tall orders for short times.
Until,
Robin
