Thucydides once told a story of Theseus, an Athenian youth that was to be sacrificed to the minotaur. King Minos kept the minotaur in a labyrinth, feeding it a regular diet of Athenian youth. As it turned out Minos plan was sabotaged by his daughter, who had become smitten with Theseus. She gave the youth a ball of golden thread so he would be able to find his way back out.
In a similar way I spent the past two weeks in Europe, exploring new places and attempting not to get lost. Over the course of the next several weeks I will be posting various tidbits from my trip. This blog will be my golden thread, a way for me to process and make sense of the sights, smells and tastes encountered.

Glad you were able to find the bread crumb trail back. (Are there bread crumbs at ElBulli?)
